The Montana Folklife Area celebrates the rich, living heritage of Montana and the West.
In 2009, folklife demonstrations, displays, exhibits, performances and narrative presentations explored the theme of Celebrating the Culture of the Horse in Montana and the West.
Experts demonstrated horsehair hitching, rawhide braiding, hat making, saddle making, boot making, blacksmithing, trick roping, quill and bead work, pack demonstrations and more.
The Folklife Area moved closer to the Markets to make room for a horse arena for demonstrations of horse breeds and techniques as well.
