Eden Brent

Eden Brent is a blues pianist, vocalist, songwriter, and educator from Greenville, Mississippi, whose music carries forward the rich traditions of Mississippi Delta blues and boogie-woogie piano. Raised in the heart of the Delta, Brent grew up surrounded by the music, stories, and cultural landscape that gave birth to the blues. Today, she is recognized as one of Mississippi's leading traditional blues artists, combining deep respect for the music's roots with a dynamic performance style that has taken her to audiences around the world.

Brent began playing piano as a young child but found her greatest teacher in legendary Delta pianist Abie "Boogaloo" Ames. Their apprenticeship lasted nearly 20 years, during which Brent learned not only the technical foundations of blues piano but also the values of listening, improvisation, storytelling, and carrying the spirit of the blues forward through dynamic performances. The partnership became the subject of the 1999 documentary Boogaloo & Eden: Sustaining the Sound and culminated in performances together at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Since launching her solo career, Brent has become an internationally acclaimed performer, recording artist, and ambassador for Mississippi blues. She is the winner of multiple Blues Music Awards, including honors for Pinetop Perkins Piano Player and Traditional Blues Female Artist, and the recipient of a Mississippi Arts Commission Folk Arts Apprenticeship and Folk Arts Fellowship. Her performances blend blues, boogie-woogie, gospel, jazz, and original songwriting while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions of the Mississippi Delta.

Beyond the concert stage, Brent is committed to sharing the history and practice of blues music through workshops, school programs, and lectures.
