Jackson, Mississippi

Known professionally as Hollywood Luck, Deunta Butler is a recording artist, producer, songwriter, and entrepreneur from Jackson, Mississippi. For more than two decades, he has contributed to Mississippi's hip hop scene through his work both behind the mic and in the studio, creating music that reflects the rhythms, stories, and creative energy of his hometown.

Butler's interest in music began early. He started playing drums at the age of five, taught himself to play keyboard by middle school, and soon began creating his own tracks at home. Butler developed his skills as both an artist and producer while building a distinctive sound rooted in the southern hip hop he grew up with. Rather than limiting himself to a single style, Butler describes himself simply as an artist whose goal is to create meaningful music across genres.

Butler has released a steady stream of independent music while collaborating with artists throughout Mississippi and the South. His work has included collaborations with Mississippi rapper David Banner as well as artists such as Boo Rossini, Kamikaze, and Rashad Street. He has also shared stages with nationally recognized performers while continuing to build his career through his own independent label, 1st Up Entertainment. Last year, Hollywood Luck and fellow Mississippi musician Meezy released Crooked Lettaz, a compilation album celebrating the influence and legacy of southern hip hop.

Beyond recording and performing, Butler is committed to strengthening Mississippi's creative community. He has spoken about the importance of supporting fellow artists and presenting a positive image of his home state, believing that local musicians succeed by elevating one another rather than competing for attention. His work as an independent artist, producer, and entrepreneur reflects the collaborative spirit that continues to shape Mississippi's contemporary music culture. Through performance, production, and mentorship, Hollywood Luck continues to expand Mississippi's rich musical legacy while demonstrating how contemporary hip-hop builds on longstanding traditions of storytelling, innovation, and self-expression.
