The National Folk Festival is a FREE, three-day outdoor event celebrating the richness and variety of American culture. It features over 300 of the nation’s finest traditional musicians, dancers, and craftspeople in performances, workshops, children’s activities, and more. Jackson, Mississippi was selected through a national competitive process to be the 2025-2027 National Folk Festival Host City.

About the role

The 83rd National Folk Festival is coming to Downtown Jackson this November and we're looking for curious, community-minded college students in the Jackson metro area to join the team.

This is a paid internship opportunity running August through November 2026. We're seeking juniors, seniors, and graduate students based in the Jackson metro area with reliable transportation. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting a nationally recognized cultural event from planning and coordination to community engagement and on-site operations.

Requirements

Hours: 10–15 hours per week with increased availability expected as the festival approaches, including evenings and weekends. Festival weekend (November 13–15) participation required as class schedules allow.
